As Catholics, we believe everyone is called to a special vocation, a “calling”, for our lives – either to married life, single life, or religious life. Discerning your vocation takes a lot of prayer, trust in God and openness to God’s will other than your own.
Saint Therese of Lisieux, one of the most famous saints of all time, died when she just 24 years old but has had a lasting impact on the lives of millions, partly because of her desire to do even the most mundane tasks with extraordinary love. She once said:
“The only thing I really wish for …Is to love until I die of love.”
So how is God calling you to love today, tomorrow, and for the rest of your life?
Just speaking for women here, there are several fantastic religious orders that are thriving in the United States. Contrary to news reports that vocations to the religious life are shrinking, these orders are growing and expanding.
