Planned Parenthood Ignores Medical Info; Lies to Patients

Lila Rose and Live Action Films, the constant thorns in the side of Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry, released yet another undercover video today chronicling how a Planned Parenthood staffer gives erroneous medical information to a woman seeking to obtain an abortion in Indiana.

The clinic staffer gives several misleading and incorrect statements regarding abortion:

 1)      The staffer says that the baby’s heart starts to beat around the 8th or 9th week. In reality, the heart starts beating at 22 or 23 days.

2)      The staffer says that abortion is “safer than carrying to term.” In reality, 2009 study from the Obstetrical and Gynecological Survey recently found that a previous abortion increased a woman’s risk of pre-term birth by 20%, and a 2003 report from the Shanghai Institute of Planned Parenthood Research notes a 55% increased risk of future miscarriages for women who have abortions.

3)      The staffer says that there won’t be any problems to have children down the road after an abortion. In reality, there’s a 50% increased risk of an ectopic pregnancy after a single abortion (American Journal of Public Health, 1998), previous abortions increase the risk of premature birth by 20% in later pregnancies (Journal of Perinatal Medicine, 2009) and abortion increases the risk of miscarriage

In Indiana, there is an informed consent law that requires women to be given medically accurate information. The data cited from Live Action isn’t from pro-life centered groups but rather from medical studies and non-affiliated organizations.

Planned Parenthood obviously could care less about the kind of information it gives to convince woman to have abortions. Oh, and in case you missed it, you, the taxpayer, are footing the bill for this kind of “counseling” and abortion procedures thanks to the hundreds of millions of tax dollars Planned Parenthood gets each year – and they’ll be getting more due to the new healthcare law.

“Black & Unwanted” Billboard Campaign in Georgia

A few months ago we reported on billboards that were placed all around Georgia that revealed that a disproportionate amount of abortions were taking place in the African-American communities than in other communities. The numbers are high – “in the US,  nearly 40% of the abortions done are on black women, even though they only make 13% of the population. That is 3x the rate of white women. Since 1973, abortion has killed more African-Americans than anything else.”

The same group who did the first billboard, “Endangered Species,” just started a new campaign along the same lines entitled “Black & Unwanted,” which features a black child with a tear in his eye.

Talk about hard hitting. The billboards are sponsored by Georgia Right to Life and the Radiance Foundation. You can go http://www.toomanyaborted.com/ for more info.

The first billboard campaign was wildly successful – it was featured on CNN and was written in up in many media outlets across the country. No wonder. It really struck a cord and shed light on a dirty secret of the abortion industry that has been buried for years and years. A huge number – over 60% – of abortion clinics are placed in African-American neighborhoods. The new Houston mega-abortion Planned Parenthood clinic is smack in the middle of more than one minority neighborhood.

Let’s help get these billboards noticed!

Internet Abortions: Planned Parenthood’s Latest Money-Making Scheme

Internet RU-486 abortions are happening today. In fact, Iowa Planned Parenthoods have been testing them for a couple years now.

They need to do it because some parts of the state are so remote that there aren’t any doctors available to administer the RU-486 abortion pills (the doctor has to watch a patient take it). But Planned Parenthood still wants to make money so the abortion giant came up with the idea that the doctor would be on a computer screen with a webcam and talk to the patient that way. Then the doctor would push a button remotely and a drawer with the RU-486 pills would open up where the patient was and she would take the pill while the doctor watched. Problem solved!

But not really. RU-486 is dangerous and painful. Women can have complications, some of them severe and even deadly. What will happen to those women who have problems after taking RU-486 and there aren’t any doctors around?

Back in February, pro-life blogger Jill Stanek followed Angie Jackson, a woman who tweeted her own abortion by RU-486. It went on for at least 8 days and Angie was in immense pain, which is certainly not uncommon for this kind of abortion.

This isn’t the first time Planned Parenthood has tried to alter the way RU-486 is supposed to be taken.

According to LifeSiteNews.com, “until 2006, Planned Parenthood told women to take the drugs Misoprostol and Mifepristone (RU 486) vaginally. This occurred despite FDA protocol instructing women to take the drugs orally. When five patients died from the drug combination, Planned Parenthood quietly changed the policy to fall in line with FDA protocol.”

But that’s not all.

“A report from the Family Research Council advised that although Planned Parenthood changed its guidelines for dispensing RU-386 in 2006, its defiance of FDA protocol continues in other ways as well. In addition to altering the suggested dosage, Planned Parenthood urges women to take one of the drugs at home, disregarding the FDA’s warning that the second portion of the pill regime ‘should be done in a medical office to monitor women for complications.’”

Now, not only will these women be taking the drugs at home, but they will be without any recourse to see a doctor immediately.

Planned Parenthood not only could care less about the unborn baby but also about the mother.

Planned Parenthood Tries to Make Money Off of Mothers Day

Planned Parenthood is trying to capitalize on the one holiday that honors women for something that the abortion industry deliberately takes away – motherhood. They are asking for donations in the names of mothers to their organization in honor of Mothers Day.

If you are the daughter whose mom had the guts to give you the answers to questions you couldn’t quite figure out how to ask…

…Say thanks.

The abortion giant performed over 305,000 abortions in 2007 (the latest data available). That’s about how many women were deprived of being a mother, maybe for the first time, or even second or third time. Because of those abortions, many other women were deprived of being grandmothers, aunts, and sisters. The reaches of abortion extend far beyond the victims – both mother and child.

If you’d rather make a donation to a group that truly supports women and their children, consider giving to pregnancy resource centers or homes for unwed mothers like the Paul Stephan Home.

Mothers deserve to be honored. In fact, they should be honored every day for the sacrifices they make for their children, husbands and families.

Planned Parenthood is getting enough money thanks to Obamacare; they shouldn’t be soliciting donations to honor a profession and vocation that they take away from women every single day.

Philly Dept of Human Services May Have Pressured Teen Into Late-Term Abortion

A disturbing story comes out of Philadelphia this morning that would make it seem like the Department of Human Services, a local government agency, pressured a 16-year-old to have a late-term abortion.

The teenager was in a foster home and her birth mother refused to provide consent for the abortion so DHS obtained a judge’s order to get the abortion anyways.

The teen’s social worker, Marisol Rivera, initially refused to accompany the girl to the abortion clinic and was subsequently fired (she later went with the girl for the 2nd day of the late-term abortion where the doctor would deliver the baby, who was already dead):

“They hired me to work in child protection, not to kill children,” Rivera told the Daily News.

This would be a prime case of conscience rights, which President Obama wants to rescind. A good video by Christian doctors talking about what would happen when medical professionals, and others, aren’t able to work according to their consciences is here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u7MbRMQpFhw.

Back to the story.

The case is confusing because it seems that the foster mother, whose first language is Spanish, didn’t understand the conversations between the social worker and the teenager about having an abortion. And the birth mother said that her daughter was very excited to have the baby.

According to the city’s deputy mayor for Health & Opportunity, “between September 2006 and March 31, 335 minors under DHS care became pregnant. Of those, 119 resulted in abortions. Of those abortions, 54 were done by judge’s order.”

And this particular abortion had to be done in New Jersey, not PA, because it’s illegal to abort at 24 weeks (6 months pregnant) in PA.

Need a visual? Here’s what the baby looks like at 24 weeks:

Babies survive and thrive after being prematurely delivered at 24 weeks, and even earlier sometimes. Last week it was reported that a baby survived for two days after a botched abortion a 22 weeks. The story concluded with a line about a baby who was born at 24 weeks and is now a healthy 5-year-old.

Apparently threats were made to the teen, who has a one-year-old, that the baby would be taken away if she had it and her children would be split. No one has any solid answers as to whether or not the teen really was coerced or if strong-arm tactics were used.

However, it is known that the foster mother didn’t know where the girl was on the day of the abortion. The DHS caseworker arranged to have the teenager taken to the abortion clinic in the morning, during a school day, for the first part of the abortion where the doctor would inject a solution to stop the baby’s heart, and then arrive back at home very late. The next day, DHS had a van take the girl back to the clinic to deliver the dead baby. Sound familiar? We reported on a teenager in the Seattle area who was taken to get an abortion during school hours without the parents’ knowledge just recently.

What an incredibly sad story.

New Abortion Clinic Opens Up in MI Because of Healthcare Law

In Bart Stupak’s home state of Michigan, a new abortion clinic is opening up as a direct result of the new healthcare bill that funds abortion on demand with government dollars. If you remember, Congressman Stupak caved at the 11th hour, providing the crucial votes needed to pass the monstrosity of a bill, delivering a huge blow to the pro-life agenda, to the autonomy of Americans and to the nation’s economy.

From the Detroit News-

An early sign of health care reform’s impact is Planned Parenthood’s decision to open a new Oakland County clinic within the next 18 months, adding to 15 locations, including Detroit, Warren and Livonia. Unlike other Detroit area centers, the new location is likely to include abortion services.

[Planned Parenthood president Cecile] Richards and Lori Lamerand, executive director of Planned Parenthood of Mid and South Michigan, are ramping up for a boom in birth control and other reproductive services — what Lamerand calls “an onslaught” of women poised to gain new access to reproductive health care.

Now that women will be able to not only get access to more birth control but they will be able to finally get those free, or at least government-subsidized, abortions that so-called women’s rights groups have been clamoring for.

Planned Parenthood will say that abortions aren’t their main focus. However, Abby Johnson, the former Planned Parenthood director at a large clinic in Texas, told ABCNews, among other outlets, that her supervisors were “pushing clinics that did have an abortion program to bring in more money.” Abortion is a money-maker, period.

And even the Guttmacher Institute, the research arm of Planned Parenthood, says that when abortion is subsidized, abortion rates among those women enrolled in Medicaid could increase 28%.

We predict this is only the beginning. The healthcare bill also provides $11 billion to Community Health Centers, many of which do abortions. Like we always said, the bill is the largest expansion of abortion since Roe v. Wade and the abortion industry stands to gain a huge windfall, thanks to President Obama, his allies in Congress and of course, to Bart Stupak.

Thomas Peters at American Principles Project just wrote a piece about this too titled “What the pro-life movement can learn from Planned Parenthood“.  Please spread the word that this is the first tangible evidence that the pro-life movement was right about the effects of Obamacare.

The Dawn of Demonic Deception

To commemorate the 50th anniversary of “The Pill” the Wall Street Journal ran a lengthy and misleading article (“The Birth Control Riddle” April 20, 2009) by Melinda Beck, calling the arrival of The Birth Control Pill the “dawn of dependable contraception” which “ignited the sexual revolution, ended the post-war baby boom and helped millions of women enter the work force.” Ms Beck then proceeds to lament all of the “unplanned pregnancies” which still occur today before detailing for us how safe it is now to use new and improved birth control methods.

Marshall McLuhan, the late, great expert on the media, who converted to Catholicism before he died said, “The major media are engaged in a Luciferian conspiracy against the truth.” How true! Ms Beck’s column is a prime example of this conspiracy, including such blatant lies and misrepresentations as:

“the benefits outweigh the risks” when taking “The Pill”

“…the longer a woman uses the pill, the lower her risk of ovarian and endometrial cancer”, and

“…the pill does not seem to increase the risk of getting [breast cancer]“.

Beck then goes on to reassure the readers with sources such as the Guttmacher Institute (Planned Parenthood’s own research arm) and a quote from Planned Parenthood’s VP of Medical Affairs who explains away the damaging side effects by saying, “We have to keep these things in perspective. A woman’s risk for problems is substantially higher during pregnancy.”

“The Pill” and the widespread use of other contraceptives in reality ushered in the ‘Dawn of Demonic Deception’ in America. One needs only to review some of the bitter fruits of “The Pill” to appreciate why.

  • A Mayo Clinic study said that women who use hormonal contraceptives for a minimum of 4 years prior to their first full term pregnancy have a 52% higher risk of developing breast cancer
  • Women who use a hormonal contraceptive for more then 5 years are 4 times more likely to develop cervical cancer
  • Prior to the sexual revolution and “The Pill” there were known to be 5 sexually transmitted diseases: Today there are more than 30.
  • There are over 50 medical studies which indicate that use of oral contraceptives and Depo-Provera place women at higher risk for almost all known risk factors of HIV.

As we look around today, we see how accurately Pope Paul IV predicted what would follow if contraception were adopted on a wide scale: a general lowering of moral standards, an increase in infidelity, ever-greater objectification of women, and the use of contraception as a weapon. Smaller and more broken families, rampant homosexuality, pornography, and China’s coercive one-child policy are just some of the sad and obvious reminders of Pope Paul’s wisdom in reaffirming the Church’s perennial teaching against contraception in Humanae Vitae.

Exposing the lies of contraception is, indeed, the great moral challenge of our day. It is not only a battle for life, it is a battle for souls.

When asked recently by a major publication to name her greatest regret, Martha Stewart replied, “Not having a dozen offspring.” This neatly summarizes the widespread “post-contraceptive regret” that weighs heavily on the hearts and souls of women who bought into the lies of the abortion industry. Even Catholic families have since the 1960′s dropped from 5.5 to 2.1 children today, increasingly rejecting the joys and challenges of larger families for the lesser goods of greater material comfort, “freedom,” and professional accomplishment.

The 1920′s-era story (ironically, the same time that Margaret Sanger was beginning her efforts to legalize contraception and abortion in America) comes to mind of the small boy who was peering out a window at dusk as a man came along to light the gas street lights.

His mother asked, “What are you looking at?”

As if explaining the obvious, the boy replied, “I am watching a man poke holes in the darkness.”

Today as confirmed Catholics this is all that God is asking of us – to stand in bold witness and poke holes in the spiritual darkness that surrounds us. Encountering the demonic deceptions forwarded by Ms. Beck and others who ignore the devastation wrought by contraception, we must answer with the light of truth.

Our daily faithfulness to God’s perfect plan for sexuality and marriage through the rosary and sacraments is the only way to reclaim the culture and our nation. Only by using these gifts can we help bring about a countercultural comeback of chastity and the family.

MN Gov Declares ‘Abortion Recovery Month’; Planned Parenthood Loses Their Minds

Abortion is easy, over in five minutes. You’ll feel such a sense of relief. It’s not even a baby. No need to worry about mental affects.

Those are some of the many lies Planned Parenthood and other abortion providers tell women who are considering abortion.

But abortion is a big deal. It’s the intentional killing of an unborn baby and for good reason, women who have had abortions are at a higher risk of experiencing clinical depression. Search online for “abortion and depression” or any combination of mental health repercussions and read stories of women who have suffered the consequences of abortion. Here is one story:

I was in college and my boyfriend left me and my mother wouldn’t help me. I felt I didn’t have any other choice.

[The It was the most painful, most sad time in my life. I still grieve and it’s been over 10 years. My mother still hasn’t forgiven me. My father died when I was 14 and my abortion wabortion] was very painful (I did not have anesthesia). The nurse held my hand and the doctor said, “Oh, it doesn’t hurt that much” (male doctor). One week later I bled through my clothes down my legs — still, I didn’t seek help because I was scared and embarrassed.as as painful as that experience.

I started with ABBA. I hope someday I can help another young girl to save her baby.

I now have 3 beautiful boys. It makes me sad to think I could have had a child that was 11 years old right now. I always have this urge to have another child –  maybe to replace the one that’s gone.

Minnesota Governor Tim Pawlenty declared April “Abortion Recovery Month” at the request of the post-abortion healing group Silent No More. Planned Parenthood and NARAL said that the Governor is pandering to anti-choice groups. Go ahead and tell that to the women who are in desperate need of healing from the abortions sold to them through Planned Parenthood.

The Catholic Church has made a great effort to help women (and men) who seek healing from abortion. Project Rachel offers retreats, counseling, prayers and hope to women who have been harmed by abortion. More information can be found here http://hopeafterabortion.com/.

One particularly powerful witness that us SMS editors have heard about the effects of abortion is actually from a man. Jason Jones, now the president of I Am Whole Life, got his high school girlfriend pregnant and then went into the military in order to support his new growing family. What happened next will break your heart:

2nd Undercover Planned Parenthood Video Catches Staff Giving Out Medical Misinformation

Community Health Centers got an $11 billion infusion when President Obama signed the healthcare legislation. CHCs are centers that provide basic healthcare but aren’t prohibited from doing abortions. Planned Parenthood clinics that have a wide range of health services, including abortions, could fit the definition of a CHC.

Besides covering up child rape and abuse and urging teens to keep their abortions a secret from their parents, Planned Parenthood staff are also deliberately giving out medical misinformation to women seeking abortions, as this latest undercover video from Live Action indicates.

In the video, a Planned Parenthood employee tells a woman who is reportedly 6-8 weeks pregnant that her unborn child has “no arms, no legs, no heart no head, no brain” despite medical and scientific facts of fetal development.

Take a look:

Elections have consequences. By electing pro-choice politicians and the most pro-abortion politician in history as President of the United States, this is what taxpayers will be funding.
