Planned Parenthood Ignores Medical Info; Lies to Patients

Lila Rose and Live Action Films, the constant thorns in the side of Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry, released yet another undercover video today chronicling how a Planned Parenthood staffer gives erroneous medical information to a woman seeking to obtain an abortion in Indiana.

The clinic staffer gives several misleading and incorrect statements regarding abortion:

 1)      The staffer says that the baby’s heart starts to beat around the 8th or 9th week. In reality, the heart starts beating at 22 or 23 days.

2)      The staffer says that abortion is “safer than carrying to term.” In reality, 2009 study from the Obstetrical and Gynecological Survey recently found that a previous abortion increased a woman’s risk of pre-term birth by 20%, and a 2003 report from the Shanghai Institute of Planned Parenthood Research notes a 55% increased risk of future miscarriages for women who have abortions.

3)      The staffer says that there won’t be any problems to have children down the road after an abortion. In reality, there’s a 50% increased risk of an ectopic pregnancy after a single abortion (American Journal of Public Health, 1998), previous abortions increase the risk of premature birth by 20% in later pregnancies (Journal of Perinatal Medicine, 2009) and abortion increases the risk of miscarriage

In Indiana, there is an informed consent law that requires women to be given medically accurate information. The data cited from Live Action isn’t from pro-life centered groups but rather from medical studies and non-affiliated organizations.

Planned Parenthood obviously could care less about the kind of information it gives to convince woman to have abortions. Oh, and in case you missed it, you, the taxpayer, are footing the bill for this kind of “counseling” and abortion procedures thanks to the hundreds of millions of tax dollars Planned Parenthood gets each year – and they’ll be getting more due to the new healthcare law.

2nd Undercover Planned Parenthood Video Catches Staff Giving Out Medical Misinformation

Community Health Centers got an $11 billion infusion when President Obama signed the healthcare legislation. CHCs are centers that provide basic healthcare but aren’t prohibited from doing abortions. Planned Parenthood clinics that have a wide range of health services, including abortions, could fit the definition of a CHC.

Besides covering up child rape and abuse and urging teens to keep their abortions a secret from their parents, Planned Parenthood staff are also deliberately giving out medical misinformation to women seeking abortions, as this latest undercover video from Live Action indicates.

In the video, a Planned Parenthood employee tells a woman who is reportedly 6-8 weeks pregnant that her unborn child has “no arms, no legs, no heart no head, no brain” despite medical and scientific facts of fetal development.

In-School Clinic Arrange Abortion During School Hours; Mother Livid

The story is horrific enough – in Seattle, a mother finds out her 15-year-old daughter got an abortion during school hours that was arranged by the school’s health clinic.

But then throw in the fact that the girl took a cab to the Planned Parenthood clinic, who did the abortion, and was discouraged by staffers not to tell her parents or the abortion wouldn’t be free.

A nightmare by most parents’ standards.

Washington State does not have any parental consent laws. Megyn Kelly at Fox News has the story here:

This story falls directly in line with the multiple investigations of Planned Parenthood by student activist and undercover journalist Lila Rose. She has caught number PP clinics giving advice to underage girls on how to cover up their abortions by not letting their parents know about it. And while healthcare is still hot, we’ll add in here that the bill approved grants for school based clinics. The clinics themselves can’t do abortions, but there is nothing to stop them from shipping kids off for abortions (page 428).

Planned Parenthood PR Machine Working Overtime

Planned Parenthood, the nation’s largest abortion chain and recipient of over $350 million in taxpayer dollars per year, has had to deal with tons of negative press coverage in the past couple years thanks in large part to many African-American pastors and the undercover videos of Lila Rose.

The latest ordeal comes out of the billboard campaign in Georgia, which we wrote about last week. Georgia Right to Life put up several billboards centered around Atlanta that said black children are an “endangered species” and led viewers to the website www.toomanyaborted.com. Well, the billboards seem to be having an effect as one Georgia lawmaker, with bipartisan support, introduced The Prenatal Nondiscrimination Act, which would outlaw performing abortions based on race, sex or color.

As the Washington Times explains, “If enacted, the bill would make it illegal to knowingly solicit, perform or accept funding for race- or sex-selected abortions.”

And Planned Parenthood isn’t happy (of course). They don’t like it when they are accused of following in their foundress’ (Margaret Sanger) footsteps.

Planned Parenthood has been wrongly depicted as racist through “race-baiting phone calls,” added Dr. Vanessa Cullins, vice president for medical affairs for Planned Parenthood Federation of America.

Those “race-baiting calls” were made by James O’Keefe and Lila Rose. They called several Planned Parenthood clinics around the country and made blatant racists statements as they were trying to find out how to donate money specifically to abort a black baby. The reactions are sickening to listen to. Not one Planned Parenthood rep turned the money down.

What has Planned Parenthood done since then? Dr. Cullins says that they have retrained their staff to “recognize and handle such calls.” Ah yes, problem solved. Now what is Planned Parenthood going to do about the fact that 70% of Planned Parenthood clinics are located in urban neighborhoods where the majority of African-Americans reside?

Stay tuned for more on this topic. It isn’t going away anytime soon. In fact, Planned Parenthood is set to open up the largest abortion facility, 78,000 square feet, in the country in Houston in April. Guess where that’s going – right in the heart of two minority communities in Houston.

For the 10th Time on Tape: Planned Parenthood Covering Up Child Rape/Abuse:

President Obama released his healthcare bill yesterday which gives an astounding $11 billion to “Community Health Centers” like Planned Parenthood. Today, Live Action Films, led by undercover student journalist Lila Rose (a Catholic by the way), released their 9th video, the 10th clinic, showing Planned Parenthood deliberately covering up child sex abuse.

The new undercover footage shows staff at a Milwaukee, WI Planned Parenthood abortion clinic counseling a purportedly 14-year-old girl not to tell anyone about her 31-year-old boyfriend and coaching her how to obtain an abortion without her parents’ consent.

In the video, after hearing the girl is 14 and her boyfriend is “much older,” the counselor says whether or not the situation will be reported by clinic workers “depends on the person you’re disclosing that information to.” When the girl says that her boyfriend is 31, the counselor tells her, “You don’t have to say anything” about the statutory rape and instructs her, “Just give them the information that’s needed.” The counselor also confirms that the 31-year-old “boyfriend” will be paying for the abortion.

The new video, ninth in a series from Live Action documenting similar behavior in 5 other states, comes amid recent controversy about Planned Parenthood’s compliance with state laws regarding minors and abortion.

Just a couple weeks ago, the Alabama Dept of Health put a Planned Parenthood clinic in Birmingham on probation for a year for several violations, including giving 2 abortions to a 13-year-old girl within 4 months and never notifying her parents. This is the same clinic that Lila Rose went undercover in, posing as an underage girl with a much older boyfriend and wanting an abortion.

If President Obama’s healthcare plan passes, Planned Parenthood will be getting billions of tax dollars to cover up child sex abuse cases like this.

Lila Rose: Profile of a Pro-Life Hero

At St. Michael Society, we are going to start a new feature focusing on an introduction to a pro-life hero. First up is a young woman whose photo is posted at most Planned Parenthood clinics across the country. She is a thorn in the side of the abortion industry and a fearless pro-life warrior. 

Lila Rose is president of Live Action, a student-run organization, who has uncovered the real Planned Parenthood in several undercover investigative projects in the past few years – everything from racial bias to the cover up of child sex abuse to giving women complete misinformation about abortion.   

Lila is also a recently converted Catholic and winner of one of the Life Prizes awards in 2009 and is truly an inspiration. She is persistent, persuasive and dedicated to the cause of ending abortion. 

Last year, Live Action released a series of videos in the Mona Lisa Project, which sought to expose Planned Parenthood clinics across the nation for purposely covering up child rape and sexual abuse. The project led to a series of firings in Indiana and investigations in Arizona and Alabama. It led to a law in Tennessee to hold organizations like PP more accountable. 

Yesterday the Alabama Dept. of Health announced that the Planned Parenthood in Birmingham is on a year-long probation for serious violations of failing to follow state law that requires a parent or legal guardian to give consent before an abortion. Of note, one violation was an instance of a 12-year-old girl who had 2 abortions in 4 months. When asked about it, the Planned Parenthood worker did not think this was unusual or potentially showing neglect. Also, PP was using expired suction equipment and at least 1 expired medication, with an open needle attached. Also, the air conditioning was out. Unplugged: Honest Perspectives on Abortion

liev action perspectives bannerLive Action, the student-run group based in Los Angeles that is perhaps best known for its undercover investigative videos of Planned Parenthood covering up child rape and abuse and taking money specifically to abort black babies, has come out with a new project called Perspectives on Abortion.

Perspectives on Abortion is an exclusive project of Live Action that attempts to capture the true position of individuals and how they respond to logic and reason that challenges their views.

The interviews were taken during the summer of 2009 in downtown San Jose, California outside of a local music festival called “Music in the Park”. The interviews are presented as recorded without special section or editing.

If you have a few minutes, take the time to check out some of these short interviews. They are an honest insight into how the next generation feels about abortion and how they react to logical arguments regarding human life.

Lila Rose Attacked Outside Planned Parenthood in CA

headshot1In between conducting undercover stings of Planned Parenthood, 21-year-old Lila Rose takes other students and groups to abortion clinics to pray and provide information to women considering abortion.

 It was during one of these trips yesterday that she was attacked by an irate male Planned Parenthood escort.

 At approximately 11:50am on Thursday, December 17th, 2009, Live Action President Lila Rose was struck by a male uniformed Planned Parenthood escort. The attack occurred on a public sidewalk outside a Planned Parenthood affiliate located at 1691 The Alameda in San Jose, California.

 Apparently the male escort recognized Lila Rose and berated her and eventually struck her hands, flinging literature and the Bible to the ground. Police were called and charges are pending. There were several witnesses. Here is an account of what happened:

Rose, from the public sidewalk: “Sir, are you familiar with the abortion procedure?”
Escort approaches Rose rapidly from Planned Parenthood parking lot, says, “You idiot. You’ve caused so much trouble. You piece of crap.”
Rose offers to show Escort a picture: “Can I show you a picture of what it really does to a baby?”
The Escort strikes Miss Rose’s hand, knocking literature and Bible to the ground. Rose steps further back on sidewalk, Escort steps towards Rose.
Escort, visibly shaking, says, “It’s a woman’s choice!”
Rose says, “What about the baby’s choice?”
Escort says, “It’s not a baby!” Escort turns around and walks away.

The escort had his talking points down cold, following right in line with what counselors and abortionists say to women who ask them about their babies, as Rose caught in her latest undercover investigative project. This is another incident in a long list of increased violence against pro-lifers at abortion clinics. Planned Parenthood has offered no apologies.
