The Obama Administration announced that Catholics MUST pay into insurance policies that cover abortion, contraception, and sterilization — NO conscience clauses will be accepted.

Cardinal Timothy Dolan released this video:

Please sign the petition to support Cardinal Dolan and stand for religious freedom! We’ll send the generic propecia online petition to President Obama, members of Congress, and HHS Secretary Sebelius.

Your signature will only count after you confirm your e-mail address.  Please check your e-mail inbox for a confirmation.

I stand for religious freedom

I stand for religious freedom and support Cardinal Dolan and pro-life conscience rights.

President Obama and HHS Secretary Kathleen Sebelius recently announced that Catholics MUST pay into insurance policies that cover abortion, contraception, and sterilization -- NO conscience clauses will be accepted. Dolan said in a statement: “In effect, you and the president are saying we have a year to figure out how to violate our consciences.”

Cardinal Dolan also urged Catholics and the public at large to speak out in protest. “Let your elected leaders know that you want religious liberty and rights of conscience restored and that you want the administration’s contraceptive mandate rescinded,” he said.

We urge you to stand up for life, for the constitution and for religious liberty. Rescind the anti religious liberty mandate.

The Catholic Church got duped by the Democrats especially Obama. Based on the Church desire to help people, Obama, Pelosi, Reid ,Boxer and Kerry, to mention a few, have employed their brand of Socialism, Marxism, or Communism to meet their agenda. In order to break this out right abuse and use of the Church needs to be stopped. One way, would be through excommunication. Let’s face it at least 3 Democrat legislator have excommunicated the Church for their own glory and the favor of select group of people. I applaud and support the Church’s move to squash this apeasement move by the administration and Obama supporter.

Every Catholic that voted for Obama has the blood of millions of babies on their hands. He is a known abortionist. The fact that Notre Dame gave him an honorary doctorate and had him speak to the graduating class is a mortal sin! What has happened to Christianity in this mess. It’s time to get him out of office and you must do that. I think every Catholic that voted for obama needs to go to confession and get started on the right track. This mental midget is destroying our country and the premise it was founded on.
It is time to flush congress and the whitehouse. When you didn’t help the team the coach would send you to the showers, well, now it’s time to send the entire washington DC mess to the sewers!

Wiston Churchill pronouncement is a sad reality today. He was not a religious figure but he knew his History and send to the world a warning that here many ignored. He said, ” Socialism is a philosophy of failure, the Creed of ignorance and the Gospel of envy, it’s inherent virtue is the sharing of misery.” Of course this Aministration send his bust back to England.

  22. Rob Overton says:

I knew what this man was about even before he was elected (coronated). To hear him speak makes me ill. He thinks he is King and no one should question his will. He continues to use division as a tool. Look at his latest shell game to use class envy. ” Tax the rich and pay their fair share” so people will forget how he has spent up the sinfull amounts of our treasury. It would seem to be simple in seeing the game of “do not pay attention to that man behind the curtain but only what I tell you”. Many are falling for this and missing the bouncing ball. Even among many I would have never suspected would fall for it. He will be successfull once he has divided us on issues of faith.

  23. moe99 says:

As former devout Catholic, attorney for 34 years, and current ruling elder of my PCUSA church, I think you guys are nuts. JFK had to promise not to let the Catholic Church come first in order to be elected president. We are reverting to the era of Torquemada.

  24. Gregory Nyssa says:

I would like to point out a couple of things.

First, the practical side effect of all of this is to allow employers the right to decide which medical coverage to extend to their employees and which to refuse to cover. So maybe today your employer refuses to cover contraception and abortion. Tomorrow your employer will refuse to cover cancer treatments, or cardiac bypass surgery. This is not about religious liberty but, in fact, about corporate employer liberty.

Second, republicans ONLY concern themselves with religious moral issues ONLY when out of office and trying yo defeat a democratic incumbent. Once republicans gain power, they give a few federal jobs to religious supporters, but other then that, do absolutely nothing to suppress abortion or contraception, primarily because top Republican donors and primarily concerned with taxes and regulations, not morals. Republicans have been in power almost twice as long as democrats since 1968, and there has been ABSOLUTELY NO PROGRESS in moral or ethical matters.

Please don’t misunderstand me – I belive that sex needs to always be associated with the procreation of life and that life is a top political concern. I just think that this current “religious liberty” debate is intentionally duping Catholics and other religious people into supporting reduction in health coverage by corporations.

  25. rebecca gunzenhauser says:

no one should be FORCED to do anything by anybody…if they cannot write legislation that provides for all people then they are failing in their job as government representatives selected by the people to represent ALL THE PEOPLE. this kind of thing only delays us from making REAL PROGRESS FOR REAL PEOPLE WITH REAL NEEDS! i am so tired of party politics, it gets us nowhere except trapped in situations like this. does anyone remember what compassion, sympathy and empathy are? do people even know the difference between the three? these should be the first qualities and skills and characteristics of required of the people who run for public office or enter the church. there are too many suffering people out here and they are running out of time while we stubbornly refuse to HELP! we NEED policy and legislation that works for everyone. it is not that impossible to do…unless you have completely lost touch with what it means to be compassionate, sympathetic and/or empathetic. if there is a moral deficiency in this country…that is where it begins whether you are a person of faith or not!!! how disappointed in us and how sad the Lord must be…

  26. Paul says:

Kathleen Sebellius, seriously?? Another Catholic, of which there are many, who have been duped by 666. The battle rages on against the left but the war has been won. It is definitely fun to be a Devout Catholic and wage battle against 666 and those who say they are of the House of God!!

  27. Paul says:

There is nothing worse than a “Cafeteria Catholic”!!

  28. rebecca gunzenhauser says:

i am an old school catholic and am tired of being put down for it…but what i hate worse is when people get lost in their own stupidity as soon as they get elected. there is no political party that is free from causing more harm than good…both of them have done way too much damage…forgotten the value of all people not just the ones that agree with them or have the $ to get them elected. they seem to forget the human cost of their decisions and be consumed with greed and power…ALL of them. i am so sick of politics. i want to put a quote in here from pope john paul II but i dont want it to be taken as me bashing america…it is about the dangers of two opposite forms of government, each has a point in which at which the people suffer and are hurt and lost at the extreme end of things…and i do think we have hit an extreme of abuses with greed and power consuming what should be our democracy…so please dont attack me for this quote, i just think we are living what he said and have been for a long time…under administrations from BOTH parties…here it goes…”the two greatest evils in the world are communism and capitalism,” pope john paul II …notice he did not say democracy, a form of government? he said capitalism, a form of economics-which is what the politicians are doing, treating the government like a corporation or investment bank…and have been doing for a long time. neither party is exempt. we all know why communism is a destructive form of government and how much suffering the people ruled by it have endured. i guess that is why i feel like it is a lack of compassion, sympathy and empathy that has landed us in this huge debate and why we are being forced to fight for basic rights in our constitution. put back compassion, sympathy, and empathy and you might get laws and policies that help, you might stop some of the suffering of people who are going without medical care, food, homes, jobs, and an education. the drop out rate is at an all time high and yet we do nothing to stop the flood of children not graduating…the schools, in their effort to improve test scores are not fighting for the children that drag the test scores down…easier to just let them slip away and go somewhere else…i get the whole argument about birth control and abortion…that is not a hard one for me…what i dont get is why we cant stop bickering and do things that help. actually fix something without smothering one group of people or another because of a political ideology. yes, for me faith is everything…i love my church and my God…but i also love my neighbor AND my enemy. the resources spent having to defend our rights takes away from helping a person and that is what makes me angry. we have been in a stalled battle of political extremes for so long my children are almost adults and do not know anything but this kind of political warfare that gets us no where. mother teresa, blessed teresa of calcutta, knew how to help people without compromising her faith not even when she helped a person in need of compassion, sympathy and/or empathy who was not of her faith. she stayed true to her personal beliefs and still helped countless people in need. have we forgotten her example so soon? please dont insult me for sharing this…life has been too full of pain for too long to add more to it…i would just like know if anyone else can see this as a bigger problem more indicative of failure to adhere to basic compassion, sympathy and empathy and choices of too many of our leaders regardless of party to give in to greed and power. however you arrive at practicing compassion, sympathy and empathy…just practice them, each of them. politics isnt about forcing one side to comply with the other, that is what it has been turned into…it is about doing what is good, right and helpful and respectful of all people. this country feels like that “push-me-pull-you-llama-like-animal” in the rex harrison version of dr. doolittle. we are going no where and helping no one! one court case will not change that and after the next election or the one after that we will still be fighting similar battles and people will continue to suffer and have their needs unmet or ignored by a pre-occupied, distracted, stressed out country with valuable resources being drained away from real, tangible things that could help. honestly…how disappointed do you think Jesus is with the state of things? with the lack of compassion, sympathy and empathy? of course i dont want the constitution to be trampled…for anyone. why is it So hard to live life from a place of love? if we each at least try to stop all the hating and stop focusing on our anger and disagreements…we might find a solution that actually respects all the people of this country, as the sacrificing fathers who fought for and founding fathers who wrote our constitution dreamed it could be…intended it to be. democracy is not easy. greed and desire to be the most powerful is easy. anger and hate are easy. we need to be willing to work hard to find solutions or every attempt to pass legislation will end up in a court room somewhere taking away for the people who need those resources most. this is about one battle, i know…but it is also about a bigger battle to prevent having to do this over and over again…no matter who you are or what you believe. living the attributes of compassion sympathy and empathy is doable for every single person in this country…if we want too.

  29. Ann Marie Grassi says:

Shame on America. Remember what He said on His cross “Father forgive them for they know what they do”. Amen to that.

  30. SL Davis says:

I’m having a hard time understanding Christians attitudes on this issue! WWJD? Do you really think He would allow OR approve of these issues? Are we not suppose to walk in Jesus’ footsteps? Do those, who claim to be Christian, really believe that whatever denomination they are, won’t be next? I have faith in our Lord, that He is in total control, and one man – especially Obama – ISN’T going to bring Him down! However, He does give us our free will, to choose for ourselves – just as He did Adam and Eve, we ALL know what happened there! In as much as Obama is offering to the people all forms of contraception, he is REALLY offering our young people a way of life contrary to our Lords Teachings!!!!! It’s NOT about our “rights”, it’s about his controling our way of life, our way of Worshiping and obeying our Lord, with a clear concience. Obama is taking that away from us as parents and teaching our kids, it’s ok to go and live a life of premesqueity – WHY????? WHY is he so bent on this issue????????????? There’s another reason under his maddness, if you REALLY think about it!! Where is this leading??????????? It’s just his foot in the door!!!!!!!!!!!! Look out, second generation!! (especially if he gets back in for another 4 years!!!!) Isaiah, what would you have to say about all this? APIS!! SAMARIA!!! Ezekiel:20!!!!

  31. patricia mundy says:

Please uphold the constitution and respect our religious rights.

  32. MFB says:

At this point in time our Catholic Church is not in need of super platonic dreams but that this Administration respect the rights of free conscience, who are proclaim by the Constitution of this compassionate and great country of ours. Jesus assured us that the forces of Hell will not prevail against His Church. That is our Faith. And for sure as citizens of this country they will hear our voices in the voting booth.

  33. Freedomfromreligion says:

First the Catholics came for the little boys and no one did anything to stop them. Now they are coming for the women. Power-hungry, pedophiles who want to control women’s bodies. No, no, no–a thousand times NO!

  34. Pat Barnett says:

I would like to know why there was not a outcry when Georgetown University covered the crosses and statues that this president demanded before he would speak there? Also why did the facultiy stand behind Miss Fluke in her demand that she and other women get free birth control? Why would this President give reapect to Catholics when we bend to his every wish?

  35. Marilyn Poindexter says:

Attack my faith and I am done with you. Switching parties tomorrow and never going back. If you attack the Catholics for their faith, then be prepared for them to leave you. This is the last straw!

  36. carmen dietrich says:

    Proud to be Catholic…

  37. Mike says:

Listen, I can understand people’s concerns relating to religious liberty, I really can. People can perhaps validly make the “slippery slope” argument as to what happens next. But put all that aside and consider what were debating here – contraception – in 2012! Put your religious beliefs aside, for just a moment, and consider this in the broader perspective as a woman’s health issue. Women should be able to have access to contraception, and decide for themselves if it is the right thing for them. No one is forcing it down their throat. 98% of Catholic women use or have used contraception – who exactly are the Catholic bishops speaking for on this issue?
Senator Santorum has even gone so far as to suggest it should be left up to the states to decide whether to prohibit birth control. Last time I checked we settled this issue in 1965 – Griswald v Connecticut. I realize that a whole lot of religious people see this differently, but I have to call it as I see it – not an attack on religious liberty, but access to affordable medical and preventable care. Guess what a great way to prevent abortion is: contraception, folks. And if your looking to make a difference in this country, they way you ultimately do that is by winning elections -alienating women voters isn’t going to help. Consider this issue from the other perspective, and see if your arguments still hold up.

  38. Daisy says:

I’ve signed the petition. Now I only hope that Cardinal Dolan advises priests to speak from the pulpit against abortion, instead of remaining silent so as not to offend their parishioners. Moreover, I hope that Catholics wake up and join Conservatives in our efforts to save this country from destruction from the Left. It’s time for all good Catholics to leave the Democrat party.

  39. Daisy says:

P.S. I don’t know if I can convey this respectfully enough, but Cardinal Dolan, someone needs to tell the Pope to stop demanding that world governments, including the USA, treat healthcare as a right. It isn’t a right.

Start behaving like the Church you’re supposed to be. Stop w/the people pleasing and teach Catholics eternal truths, for heaven’s sake. Maybe then the Church could once again grow in numbers and strength. Maybe then there could be more, not less, Catholic hospitals run independently of the government the Catholic Church has been playing footsie with .. all the while hoping no consequences arise. Well, the consequences of pandering to the government for $$$ are here. What are you planning to do to protect the Church for the long haul, Cardinal Dolan?

Any Presidential administration at this point and has been for some time, a puppetry. Puppetry of other countries. We are being led by the banks…their god. This is a subtle way of stripping away the First Amendment Right.

  43. raven says:

The Church should hold stance on this issue. They are obligated, as women should also be. God did not change the commandment of thou shalt not kill. If a women wants to put herself unto mortal sin…this is her soul. But the Church should not be forced to go against what God commands of them and us. Abortion shouldn’t be legal anyway. Who gave us the right to play GOD. Satan? Come on now people. Remove the veil of wolf fur over your eyes.
Why don’t people realize that our bodies do not belong to us…we are only caretakers…and we will be repaid for how we cared for God’s possesion.

  45. KROOG says:

Dear Catholic Church: You seem to be confusing your dogma with law. You are a sovereign country – State of the Vatican City – so please stay out of US law and government. Take control of your own genitalia (you’ve been in the news quite a bit about that) and leave America’s genitalia alone. A country of celibate men in beautiful gowns, who think a baby came out of a virgin, has no place in controlling reproductive rights and choices in other countries. Please stop spreading your poison and respect individual rights that are protected under the US Constitution.

    Thank you, KROOG.
    Keep Religion Out Of Government!

  46. Andree Daugereaux says:

I rather live like there is a God and die and find out there isn’t one than to live like there isn’t a God and die and find out there is one. The second one is how the people we voted into office are acting and trying to force us to live the same way. The evil one is getting us to live as if the only thing that matters is what we want and not what is needed for the common good. The common good doesn’t always mean we get what we want because what we want might not be what is good for us. Please take your eyes off what you want and listen to the people who are the majority of the country and realize the majority believes in God and it is wrong to take our inaliable right to worship him when, where and how we want without government interferance.
Because you are living as if God doesn’t exist when you die I assure you the two of you will come face to face and the first will be last or not at all.
