In 1 Corinthians 9:24-26, St. Paul said that “Do you not know that in a race the runners all compete, but only one receives the prize? Run in such a way that you may win it. Athletes exercise self-control in all things; they do it to receive a perishable wreath, but we an imperishable one. So I do not run aimlessly…”
As any of you who are runners know, there is oftentimes a lot of pain in training and racing. Like St. Paul said, you have to prepare your body. St. Paul’s running analogies really hit the nail on the head when it comes to living life as a Christian. It’s gonna hurt and sometimes its gonna hurt really bad – but we have to keep running with our eye on the prize of eternal life. Don’t run aimlessly and never give up.
During last night’s local newscast on NBC in Washington, D.C., a runner was profiled for his amazing story of never giving up in the face of heartbreak after heartbreak.
Jeff comes from a Catholic family and practices his faith in every aspect of his life. You’ll be able to see he follows St. Paul and refuses to run aimlessly.
We hope you all are inspired by Jeff as we are.
