The abortion funding bill that passed the Baucus Senate Finance Committee yesterday, masquerading as health care “reform,” represents the largest expansion of abortion since Roe vs Wade. During the campaign, candidate Barack Obama, speaking before a National Federation of Planned Parenthood event, promised that one of the first things he would do as President is sign the Freedom of Choice Act, or FOCA. FOCA is an all out assault on life — it funds abortion on demand, forces Catholic and prolife medical professionals to provide abortion services, and undermines numerous state laws regulating abortion.
Realizing that making FOCA a major priority would be politically damaging, President Obama and his pro-abortion allies on Capitol Hill have taken pieces of it and snuck it into every one of the health care bills now making their way to both the House and Senate floor.
While we listen, watch and read news reports regarding which industry is up or down based on health care legislation, the passing of government funding of abortion via health care will be a boon to the abortion industry.
It is often said among the political punditry and historians that Presidents, and their top aides, start thinking about and working on their legacy the moment they raise their hand to take the oath of office. Many times that legacy does not materialize until after the President has left office. But as we take a look at President Obama’s long track record on abortion, and witness how he is using health care “reform” to broadly fund abortion, Mr. Obama’s early legacy is that he has become the most pro-abortion president in American history.
Kudos to Steve Ertelt of www.lifenews.com for this compilation of Mr. Obama’s long, pro-abortion record here.
